Obituary of Robert Paul Findley

Robert P. Findley, age 80, of Shelton, beloved husband of Linda Gentile Findley, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport, on May 28, 1946, he was the son of the late Harry and Helen Valko Findley and grew up in Father Panik Village and in Black Rock. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Korea at Camp Essayons from 1963-1965 and was Honorably discharged as E-4 in 1966. Bob owned and operated Victory Auto Sales on the corner of North and Capital Avenues in Bridgeport for over 30 years. His American Flags were always proudly displayed surrounding the car lot.

His passion was as a Drum Major and Marching and Maneuvering Drill Creator/Instructor for many Drum and Bugle Corps. His involvement began when he was recruited to play drums in St. Ann's School. He was honored into the Drum Corp Hall of Fame in 1987 and served as Vice President during his tenure. Since the late 1960's, he became a drill and show designer for many drum and bugle corps, colleges, high school bands and winter color guards, winning many titles and awards. Bob is highly remembered locally for his showmanship at the annual Barnum Festival Champion's on Parade as drum major for many Drum Corps over the years including the CT Hurricanes, RI Matadors, NY Skyliners, Park City Pride and CT Alumni Corps.

Bob was the cherished patriarch of the Findley family who truly embraced life. He enjoyed golfing and could always be seen at Woodhaven and XGolf Stratford with his golf buddies. Bob especially loved his advantage of playing from the senior tee boxes to beat his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his grandchildren, whose lives he was such a meaningful and constant part of.

Married to his beloved wife for 58 years, and together for 60 years, they built a life from humble beginnings; they began their journey young and through hard work, resilience and unwavering commitment, built a beautiful life together and raised a devoted son.

In addition to his wife Linda, survivors include his son, Robert Findley and daughter in law Roxana (Serrano) Findley of Seymour, two grandchildren, Rebecca Findley of Milford and grandson Robert Findley of Metairie, LA, his brother Ronald Findley and wife Barbara of The Villages, FL as well as nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 4:00 - 6:30 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
