Obituary of Maria De Lurdes Alves

Maria De Lurdes Alves, age 64, of Shelton, beloved wife of Abraao Alves, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 27, 1962 in Valdegas, Boticas, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Dos Santos and Delmina Goncalves.

Along with her family, she immigrated to the United States in 1991, living in Bridgeport before settling in Shelton. Maria was a retired employee of Precision Metal Products in Milford.

Proud of her Portuguese heritage, Maria enjoyed sharing traditions and recipes with her children and family; and loved to telling stories to her grandchildren. The love and care of her family was most important to her. Her smile would light the room when her grandchildren were around. The values she taught and the unconditional love she gave will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her beloved husband of 45 years, Abraao, survivors include her two loving children, a son, Joao Alves and a daughter, Carina Alves Quintans and her husband Richard, four cherished and adored grandchildren, Joao Alves Jr., Cristiano Alves and Antonio and Eliana Quintans, two brothers, Francisco Santos and Antonio Santos and his wife Zita, two sisters, Gracinda Dias and Ester Fonte, as well as several nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 15, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Lawn Cemetery South, Shelton. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1 – 4 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
