Obituary of Maureen R. Macrillo

Maureen R. “Cookie” (Ward) Macrillo, age 74, of New Milford passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at Danbury Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Sam Macrillo. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on September 6, 1951, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Regina (Hamilton) Ward. Maureen was a music lover and also enjoyed going on the occasional shopping spree. She was meticulous in her cleaning regimen and her home was immaculately kept. She loved anything related to angels and her home was adorned as such to show this affection. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she loved being surrounded by her family, which she put before everything. She was an intelligent woman with a keen, witty sense of humor but it was her genuine, warm, loving character that made others feel special and gravitate towards her. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her beloved husband Sam of nearly 54 years, other survivors include her devoted daughters, Jennifer Landesbaum and her husband Max of Brookfield and Jessica Macrillo of New Milford, her cherished grandchildren, Arianna and Jaxson Landesbaum, her sisters, Sharon Durr and her husband Charles, Loretta Ward, her twin Christine Benigno and her husband Frank, Mary Ward, Norah Ward, and Regina Tannuzzo and her husband Jimmy, and her brother, Terry Ward, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Joseph Macrillo, her sister, Linda Burns and her brothers, Timothy and Peter Ward.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown. Friends may greet the family at the funeral home on Friday, May 29, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
