Obituary of Josephine Etrio

Josephine "Pina" Montesano Etrio, age 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2026 at Palm Gardens in Tampa, Florida. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Etrio. Born in Foggia, Italy on June 28, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Domenico and Giacomina (Dragonetti) Montesano and was a longtime resident of Fairfield, CT before moving to Florida. Pina came to the United States to provide a better life for her family. She joined the International Ladies Garment Union Local 152 and was an extremely talented seamstress. She worked at Rosa Dress for over ten years, and was always helping family and friends with any alterations. She was devout to our Lord and was an active and longtime parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Fairfield where she served in the choir for many years. She was an amazing cook and loved cooking for her family. When visiting you could never leave without having something to eat. She will be remembered for all her generosity, kindness and delicious Italian meals. Josephine was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Jon Etrio and his wife Carol, five loving grandchildren, Jon Etrio, Nicole Etrio, Belinda Wutke (Phil), Bianca Garnett and Holly Garnett, six cherished great grandchildren, Adrianna, Arabella, Carmela, Michael, Philip and Lorenzo and a brother-in-law, Gary Rudis as well as many nieces and nephews, including Debra Etrio Kopczynski (Jim) and Anthony Kopczynski. She was predeceased by her daughter, Teresa Garnett and her husband Michael Garnett, brothers, Nicola Montesano and Rev. Felese Montesano, a sister, Maria Montesano and a sister-in-law, Rosemary Rudis. A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday morning from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the funeral home.
