Obituary of Joseph P. Machol
Joseph P. Machol, age 78, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Cathy Faustine Machol, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at St. Vincent's Medical Center with his loving wife at his side. Born in Queens, New York on November 16, 1947, he was a son of the late William and Catherine (Buono) Machol. Joe grew up and lived in Bay Ridge Brooklyn, NY, for many years, where he also raised his family before coming to Bridgeport.
Joe worked in the patient finance department at Greenwich Hospital and later at Yale New Haven Hospital for many years before his retirement. Throughout his career he was loved by his coworkers and developed many long-lasting friendships. He was a sports enthusiast and being from New York he was an avid fan of New York Yankees and Giants fan as well as the LA Dodgers. Joe enjoyed trips to the casino to play the slots and playing his lottery numbers. He could be found at anyone of the local diners in Bridgeport in the morning for breakfast and conversation with the regulars. He liked to joke around with people but was a kind and caring person at heart and was always there to help anyone. He was anxiously awaiting the birth of his first granddaughter, Samantha Grace. Joe was a devoted husband, a caring father, brother and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his beloved wife Cathy of 16 years, survivors include his five loving children, Joseph Machol, Steven Machol, Donna Stern and her husband Jason, Kerry Machol and Patty Machol, a sister, Maureen Johnsen, two brothers, Kenneth Machol and Michael Machol and his wife Karen, two nieces, Laurie Ramos and Rose Machol and a sister-in-law, Judy Faustine as well as his cherished Chihuahua, Pandora. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sarah Machol, a brother, William Machol and his former wife, Sarah Sinclair.
All funeral services will be private at this time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be announced at some time in the future. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
