Obituary of Diane Eleanor Whitney

Diane Eleanor Whitney, beloved mother, passed away peacefully on May 24th, 2025, after a long period of declining health. She was 82 years old. She was born in Bridgeport Connecticut on September 14th.

Diane moved to Maine in 2010 to be nearer to her daughters- Lisa and Kristen who both reside in Bowdoin, Maine. Diane is survived by her daughter's and son-in-law: Stephen and Lisa Randall (nee' Perachio), Susan Perachio of Santa Barbara, CA and Kristen Perachio. She is also survived by her Grandson, Timothy Naylor and his Fiancée' Tori Bellemare of Thomaston, CT as well as, her nephew David Whitney and niece MaryBeth Whitney of Florida.

She is pre-deceased by her parents: William Earl Whitney and Eleanor Mae Crosby as well as her brother, Wayne Whitney and sister-in-law Barbara Whitney.

Diane was the most loving mother, and her girls always came home from school to home-made cookies, brownies or pies made by Diane with big hugs and kisses after school. She was known for being a wonderful baker in her lifetime and her daughters and friends will cherish her many recipes shared and passed down. Diane was incredibly creative and was known for sewing her daughters many intricate Halloween costumes over the years. Diane was the most self-less and giving person and such an amazing mother and friend to all who were lucky to know her.

Diane gave selflessly of her time to the NIA, taught Sunday School at Nichols United Methodist Church while her children were growing up and was involved in many civic organizations. In addition, Diane volunteered at Griffin Hospital. She had such a knack with patients that she was asked to train in providing therapeutic massage for critically ill and dying patients. She loved providing this kindness at such a difficult time for patients and their families.
