Obituary of Ann DePiano

Lifelong Bridgeport Resident Ann DePiano, age 81, of Bridgeport, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 surrounded by her family, after a prolonged illness at 3030 Park Fairfield Health Center. The daughter of the late Carmen and Lucy (Foglia) DePiano, she was born on the east side of Bridgeport and remained a lifelong resident. She was a loyal employee of General Electric in Bridgeport for over 35 years and a past member of the Saint Theresas Guild of Holy Rosary Church. Among her talents Ann loved to crochet and knit and thoughtfully crafted many beautiful afghans, sweaters and other treasures for her family and friends. Ann loved to travel. She took many trips and cruises throughout her life. Proud of her heritage, she most enjoyed her sojourn to Italy to discover her family history. With a strong love of children she baby sat, and cared for, several generation of nephews and nieces. A spirited individual, Ann was not afraid to speak her mind but tempered her convictions with compassion and humor. Her loved ones will miss her very much. Ann is survived by a brother, Attorney Salvatore (Sam) DePiano of Fairfield and two sisters, Mary Cavaliere of Stratford and Viola Soares and her husband, Nicholas of Easton. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, William and Patsy DePiano and one sister, Angelina Ucci. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at 3030 Park Health Center for all the care, support, kindness and dignity given to her during her illness, as well as thanking Sharon and the staff from Hospice and Palliative Care, who spent many hours with Ann and her family. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Friday, January 13, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
