Obituary of Gary Stikkel

CW4, Gary P. Stikkel, U. S. Army (Ret.), age 52, of Beacon Falls, died on Saturday, October 28, 2006, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Jane (Riley) Stikkel. Mr. Stikkel is the son of Charlotte Stikkel of Sandy Hook and the late Frederik G. Stikkel. He was a helicopter pilot for 21 years for the United States Army, stationed in Fort Campbell, KY, Schofield Barracks, HI and the Connecticut Army National Guard. He achieved a Master Army Aviator Badge while accruing over 3500 flight hours. Mr. Stikkel was employed by Sikorsky Aircraft for 20 years in the Quality Assurance Department. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his daughter, Kristen Nowacki and her husband, Christopher of Hamden, CT and his son, Jason Stikkel of Beacon Falls, CT. He is also survived by three brothers, Frederick Stikkel and his wife, Linda of Valdsota, GA, Victor Stikkel of Sleepy Eye MN and Mark Stikkel and his wife, Jeanann of Azle, TX, one sister, Helene Stikkel of Springfield, VA and many devoted nieces and nephews. Gary was an avid outdoorsman and loved passing his hunting and fishing skills onto others. Gary will surely be missed for his unique sense of humor. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Friday, November 3, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
