Rosa Chiodi

Rosa Fonzone Chiodi, age 89, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 9, 2022 at St. Vincent Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Chiodi. Born in Ginosa, Province of Taranto, Italy on October 23, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Achille and Letizia (Venezia) Fonzone and recently resided with her son and his family in Shelton. Rosa worked as a seamstress and dress maker for many years before her retirement from Warnaco. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking, baking, making special meals for her grandchildren, and watching them play outside on warm sunny days. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and doing things for others. Many will remember the countless cookies she baked and meals she prepared for special occasions, and all of the blankets, scarves, and booties that she knitted for family and friends. She was most joyful when she could help others and when those around her were happy and doing well. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her examples of humility, kindness and selflessness will remain forever in our hearts and minds.

Survivors include her loving son, Philip Chiodi and his wife Carmita of Shelton, three cherished grandchildren, Francesco, Nico and Leo, a brother-in-law, Rocco Bauco, six nieces and nephews, Joanna Wandel (Shawn), Patricia Diorio, John Bauco (Karen), Anthony Bauco (Renee), Gina Zamary (Mark) and Frank Bauco (Maria) as well as several great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her husband, Frank, she was predeceased by her seven sisters and one brother, Angelina, Filomena, Gina, Domenica, Giuseppina, Maria, Pierino Fonzone, Italia Diorio and a brother-in-law, Vincent P. Diorio.
