Obituary of Florence Martello

Florence Vetre Martello of Stratford, a retired inspector for Dresser Industries with 39 years of service, died on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 in Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Stratford, she was a daughter of the late Carmen and Lucia Marra Vetre and was a graduate of Stratford High School. Mrs. Martello was a devout parishioner of St. Mark Church in Stratford for over 45 years, and she served as a Eucharistic Minister and at the Adoration Chapel and was a member of the Ladies Guild. During the past 25 years, she and her husband traveled extensively all over the world with their dear friends, Gabrielle and Earle Falve. She was a member of the Baldwin Center and the Derby and Shelton Senior Centers, was an avid bowler with the Dresser league and also enjoyed playing pinochle. Her favorite past time was ballroom dancing and spending time with her great great nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 53 years, Anthony R. Martello, a sister, Adeline Davis and her husband, Arthur of Tamarac, Florida and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by nine brothers and sisters. 

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mark Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Monday from 4-8 p.m.
