Obituary of Nancy Catherine Lilley

Nancy Catherine Latshaw Lilley, of Trumbull, died Friday, July 30, 2004 after a valiant 3 year battle with colon cancer. She was born in Melrose, Massachusetts to the late Isabelle M. Gannon Latshaw and Thomas Alvin Latshaw. A writer and editor, Mrs. Lilley was most recently employed by Fairfield Universitys Public Relations Department as a Media Relations Specialist. Prior to that she served for 17 years as Arts and Society Editor for the Fairfield Citizen-News. An alumna of St. Marys High School in Melrose, she graduated magna cum laude from Sacred Heart University and earned a masters degree in corporate and political communications from Fairfield University. Active in community affairs, she was a long-term board member of the Fairfield Arts Council, serving most recently as its vice president; as well as a board member of UNIFEM, CT USA, the branch of the United Nations that provides financial and technical assistance to womens issues worldwide. For the past several years she served as a judge for the literacy competition of the Trumbull Arts Festival and was a member of the Gaelic-American Club.

She is survived by her husband, Robert F. Lilley, three children, Robert F. Lilley, Jr. and his wife, Amy of Trumbull, Michael A. Lilley and his wife, Carol of Philadelphia, PA and Kathleen M. Lilley and her partner, Michael Gallagher of Southington, her beloved grandchildren who gave her much joy, Meg E. and Jack L. Gallagher, Sophie S. and Emma G. Lilley and Joseph M. and Michael Francisco Lilley. She is also survived by three sisters, Mary C. Daignault of Lakeridge, VA, Barbara A. Riley and her husband, Chester of Boxford, MA, Joan M. Conroy of Venice, FL and Scarborough, ME, a brother, Thomas A. Latshaw and his wife, JoAnn of Leland, North Carolina, brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Eileen Lilley of Chelmsford, MA and Mary and Robert Rooney of Keene, NH, five nieces, eight nephews and 19 great nieces and nephews, and her other family, the Borders, the Hansens and the Johnsons, all of Trumbull. In addition to her parents she was pre-deceased by two brothers-in-law, Richard A. Daignault and Robert Conroy. 

Friends are invited to meet directly in the Egan Chapel of St. Ignatius Loyola at Fairfield University, 1073 North Benson Road, Fairfield on Monday, August 2, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Nichols Village Cemetery, Shelton Road, Trumbull. Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
