Obituary of Nikolaus Wirth

Nikolaus Wirth, age 78 of Norwalk, beloved husband of MaryAnn Troiano Wirth, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Norwalk Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Romania on August 1, 1939, he was a son of the late Nikolaus and Maria Lorenz Wirth. An avid soccer player, he was named All-State in New Jersey and was entered into both the Hall of Fame at Hightstown High School in New Jersey and the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. Nick studied at the University of Bridgeport, earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education with a major in Mathematics. After working as a teacher for three years in the Norwalk School System, he went on to become a Systems Analyst. Nikolaus was a very loving father and grandfather who loved to attend all the kids and grandkids school activities and sporting events. He was very involved in coaching soccer and baseball, and leading cub scouts when his children were young. Nikolaus was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be truly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, MaryAnn of 55 years, he is survived by his three children, Nikolaus Wirth and his wife Lisa Pierce-Wirth of New Fairfield, Stephen Wirth and his wife Dana of Shelton, and Laurie Ann Chamberlain and her husband Richard of Trumbull; seven grandchildren, Aleksey, Peter, Nikolaus, Benjamin, and Julia Wirth, Matthew and Kaitlyn Chamberlain. Nikolaus' is also survived by his brother, Frank Wirth and his wife Lei Min and several nieces and nephews throughout PA, NJ, MA and CT. He was predeceased by his siblings, Peter and Margaret Wirth.

All funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
