Obituary of Salvatore A. Savastano

Salvatore A. Savastano, age 84, of Trumbull, beloved husband of the late Maryanne Zahorsky Savastano, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport on September 27, 1933, Sal was a son of the late Salvatore and Alfonsina Marcuccio Savastano. He was proud to have served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and later had a long successful career as a software / hardware engineer before his retirement. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing golf, had a tremendous love for dancing and all music especially the Big Band Era. He was a longtime member of the Monroe Lions Club where he served as secretary as well as the VFW and Port 5. Above all things, his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Survivors include his five loving children, Marisa Ann Getts and her husband Robert of Shelton, Jeanine Pereira and her husband Luis of FL, Anette Savastano of Wilton, Jennifer Sherman and her husband Brad of GA and James Gerard Savastano and his wife Ruth of Milford, two sisters, Nellie Hiebert of VA and Antoinette Mollica of Stratford, seven grandchildren, Jessica, Elizabeth, Marco, Christopher, Annie, Nicholas and Franco and a great grandson, Sebastian as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Carmen Savastano and sisters, Connie Genovese and Mary Cataudella. Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in Nichols Village Cemetery, Trumbull. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Monroe Lions Club, P.O. Box 10, Monroe, CT 06468.
