Obituary of Lucille M. Oleynick

Lucille Izzo Oleynick, age 93, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late John A. Oleynick, Sr., passed away peacefully on Monday, March 19, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bridgeport, on April 24, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Marie Saracino Izzo. Together with her husband, they owned and operated Mohegan Market of Bridgeport for over 20 years. Affectionately, known to everyone as "Grammy", Lucille was kind, loving and generous to everyone. Lucille enjoyed seeing her customers every day, but her greatest joy in life was being with her family. The unconditional love Lucille provided and the memories they created will forever live on in their hearts. In addition to her husband and siblings, Lucille was predeceased by her adoring grandson, John A. Oleynick, III. Survivors include her loving son John A. Oleynick, Jr. and his wife Christine of Weston, three cherished grandchildren, Bethany Oleynick Mpuku and her husband Robert, George Oleynick and Andrew Oleynick, three great grandchildren, Mason, Benjamin and William Mpuku, in addition to countless extended family members, including her sister-in-law (Rosemarie Galliotti Izzo), nieces, nephews and great- nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass celebrating Lucille's life will be held directly in St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton Street, Bridgeport on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 10:00 am. Interment was held privately at St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prospect House Shelter, 392 Prospect Street, Bridgeport, CT 06604 (203) 576-9041. Prospect House is a homeless shelter for persons 18 and older that provides emergency shelter for single adults and includes meals, as well as referrals to health and social services. Arrangements entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
