Obituary of Diane F. Scalzi

Diane Fiore Scalzi, age 84, of Monroe, beloved wife of the late Louis M. Scalzi, passed peacefully away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on May 30, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Anna Carbone Fiore and was a longtime resident of Gilford, NH before moving to Monroe. Before her retirement, she was an office manager in the Financial Aid Office at Fairfield University for over 20 years and prior to that she was a medical secretary at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, NH. Diane was very involved in her community, she volunteered at Fairfield University, was a member of the staff association and a member of the Ladies Guild at Our Lady of the Lakes Church in Lakeport, NH. She was an avid reader and known for her amazing cooking but above all, she had a special love for her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include three devoted children, Michael D. Scalzi (Louise) and their children, Madeline and Christopher of Westminster, MD, Susan Scalzi Piche (Joe) of Lone Tree, CO and their children, Annie Piche Schulman (Aaron) of Malden, MA, Alison of Prescott, AZ and Ryan of Santa Monica, CA and Carol Ann Shea (Joel) and their daughter, Kathleen of Belmont, NH, a sister, Patricia Marsillio of Shelton, a brother, Arthur Fiore, Jr. (Donna) of Easton and a sister-in-law, Geraldine LoConte of Trumbull as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Lorraine Ray and Ann Quinn.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Stephen Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday morning from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
