Obituary of Phyllis B. Copertino

Phyllis Jean Benedetto Copertino, age 80, of Milford, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bridgeport on July 10, 1937, Phyllis was the second child of the late Raymond C. Benedetto and the late Anna Riccio (Rich) Benedetto of Stratford, CT. A beloved wife, Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Anthony P. Copertino, Jr. Phyllis was a most cherished, supportive, kind, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose favorite thing in life was to spend time with her family and friends. Phyllis' survivors include her five daughters, Gina Bolduc and her husband Lucien, of South Windsor, Carla Copertino, of Stratford, Dia Ruskay and her husband Paul, of Trumbull, Licia LaMonica and her husband Michael, of Stratford, and Monica Copertino Chioffi and her husband Mark, of Easton; her twelve grandchildren, Lucien, Matthew, Douglas, Jocelyn, and Curtis Bolduc, ToniMichelle Kieffer, Stephen and Samantha Ruskay, Angelina and Michael LaMonica IV, and Olivia and Gabriella Chioffi; her two great-grandchildren, Coleman and Caeden Kieffer; one sister, Jacqueline B. Liddle, of Torrington, and one brother, Peter J. Benedetto and his wife Beverly, of Missouri, as well as many nieces and nephews. Phyllis grew up in Bridgeport and graduated from St. John's Commercial High School in 1953, after which she embarked on a career as a legal secretary for various local law firms. For many years, Phyllis was very active at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, volunteering as school guardian mother, participating as a member of the Ladies' Guild (including as President for one term), and serving as a Girl Scout leader. After raising her daughters, Phyllis assisted her husband, Tony, in his law practice for many years. Phyllis' true vocation, though, was to her beloved family, whether it was through babysitting, cooking for, playing games with, or spending time at the beach with, her grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:00 a.m. in St. Theresa's Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull, for a Mass of Christian Burial.
