Obituary of Frank Cortigiano

Frank Cortigiano Sr., age 94, of Ansonia and formerly of Devon, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Bridgeport Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Carmella Gaudioso Cortigiano. Born in Bridgeport on September 1, 1923, he was a son of the late Leonard Sr., and Giovanna Patricelli Cortigiano. Frank was a graduate of Warren Harding High School, where he excelled at football and baseball. A U.S. Army veteran, Frank was the owner and operator of numerous gas stations in the Bridgeport, Fairfield and Westport areas. He retired from the Town of Monroe Board of Education, serving as a custodian at Masuk High School. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed watching the New York Giants, Yankees and Knicks and watching old western movies. But above all he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. The memories created and unconditional love he gave will always live on in their hearts. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include two loving children, Frank Cortigiano Jr., of Naugatuck and Noreen Davis and her husband Robert of Ansonia, four cherished grandchildren, Robert Davis and his wife Christine, Kristin Lugo, Jessica Girasuolo and her husband Peter, and Christopher Cortigiano, seven adored great grandchildren, Kayleigh, Jordyn, Mikenna, Jenna, Kristyana, Jovani and Jace, a sister-in-law, Cynthia Cortigiano of Devon, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Louis, Leonard Jr. and Dan. Friends can greet the family at a memorial gathering celebrating Frank's life on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull with a prayer service to be held at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT 06492.
