Obituary of Robert W. Morin

Robert W. Morin: February 19, 1948 - December 17, 2017

Loving brother and uncle Robert Morin (known as "Bobby" to his family and "Yogi" to his many friends), 69, of Trumbull, Connecticut, passed away on December 17, 2017. He died peacefully with his family after suffering a stroke.

Born and raised in Stamford, Connecticut and a lifelong resident of Fairfield County, Robert was the youngest child of Roland B. Morin and Violet Williams Morin, and is survived by his two older sisters Adrienne Miceli and Margaret Karl, and by his older brother Roland J. Morin, by his brother-in-law Lou Miceli, Sr., and by his sister-in-law Dona Morin. He was pre-deceased by his brother-in-law Paul Karl, Sr. and by his nephew, Paul Karl, Jr. He is also survived by his nieces Deanna Molnar (Robert Molnar), Andrea Piselli (Lee Strode), and Anne Whiteside (Robert Whiteside), and by his nephews, Lou Miceli, Jr. (Mae Watson Grote) and Michael Inzitari (Rachael Inzitari), as well as several grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins.

Robert was a graduate of Stamford High School and an automotive mechanic, small business owner, and retail sales manager over the years of his career. He also proudly served as an auxiliary police officer in Stamford. Robert retired from The Home Depot in September 2017 after 18 years. A life-long car and motorcycle enthusiast, Robert refurbished and repaired cars and bikes for others both as a profession and as a hobby. He was also an animal lover and rescuer. His passion for science fiction and mysteries, and his love of American history and numismatics was well-known to his family and friends.

Robert was known for his big heart, generous spirit, his booming and melodic singing voice (he could sing virtually a whole library of old country-westerns a capella), as well as his sense of humor. He was quick to lend a hand and would often go above and beyond to help people with their problems. Family and friends alike remember and celebrate his kindness and the joy he brought to their lives.

In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family asks that you please consider a contribution made in his memory to three causes very important to him: The American Humane Society, The National Stroke Association, and The Epilepsy Foundation of America.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert will be held on January 6th at 9:30 a.m. directly at St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull, Connecticut 06611.
