Obituary of Marie Shamiss

Marie Magner Shamiss, age 86, of Stratford and formerly Bridgeport, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 7, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late George Shamiss. Born in Bridgeport on February 21, 1931, she was a daughter of the late William and Gertrude Lush Magner. She graduated from Harding High School and then worked as a bank manager for many years before her retirement. She later worked for Stearns Insurance as a bookkeeper. Marie was a woman of great faith and also a very active parishioner of St. Nicholas Antiochian Church, Bridgeport, where she built many lasting friendships. Survivors include her loving and devoted nieces and nephews, Diane and David Wheeler, Albert and Joanne Shamas and Marcia and John White, all of Trumbull. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews. Friends may greet the family on Monday, December 11, 2017 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull with a Trisagion Service at 9:50 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, 5458 Park Avenue, Bridgeport with Father Romanos Maloof officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport.
