Obituary of Antonio Lopes Pinto

Antonio Lopes Pinto, age 66, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Engracia Goncalves Pinto, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in Canedo, Portugal, on May 19, 1951, he was a son of the late Joaquim Pinto and Carolina Lopes Pinto. A former medic in the Portuguese Army, Tony immigrated to the United States 42 years ago and settled in Bridgeport. He was a retired laborer, having worked for many area construction companies before his retirement. Tony was a long time member of the Vasco da Gama Club, where he enjoyed time with his friends, playing cards and watching his beloved soccer team Benfica play. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. But above all of these things, he truly loved time spent with his wife and son. The memories they created together will forever be in their hearts. Tony will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his beloved wife of 33 years, Engracia, survivors include his loving son, Mike Pinto of New York City, a brother Pedro Pinto of France, three sisters Teresa Alves and her husband Francisco of Bridgeport, Judite Fernandes and her husband Manuel of Waterbury and Cristina Apuzzo and her husband Robert of North Haven, sister-in-law, Delphina Pinto of Shelton, dear friends Tony and Zeza Costa, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Domingos Pinto.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Bridgeport Hospital for the professional care given to Tony in his time of need.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, October, 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. directly in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial.
