Obituary of Matilda R. Mainiero

Matilda "Tillie" R. Zega Mainiero, age 76, beloved wife of Richard J. Mainiero of Trumbull, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bridgeport on November 6, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Scovanna Zega. Tillie was a graduate of the University of Bridgeport with a Bachelor's Degree in French and English. She taught French at Masuk High School, tutored Italian as well as being fluent in Spanish. She was later a manager at Pathmark for over 20 years and before her retirement she worked in the registrar's office at Southern Connecticut State University for over 19 years. Outside of all of the enjoyment she had with her family and grandchildren, she loved to entertain with her excellent cooking and decorate her home. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her husband Richard of 50 years, survivors include two loving sons, Richard Mainiero of New York City and Ronald Mainiero and his wife Laurie of Shelton as well as three cherished grandchildren, Jack, Skylar and Madison. Friends can greet the family on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 3-6 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A service will take place on Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
