Obituary of Nella Savo

Nella Palmieri Savo, age 88, of Huntington, beloved wife of the late Rizziero Savo, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at the Jewish Senior Services surrounded by her loving family. Born in Torrice, Province of Frosinone, Italy, on July 5, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Domenico and Angelina Paniccia Palmieri. Mrs. Savo immigrated to the U.S. in 1966 to provide a better way of life for her family and resided in Bridgeport for 31 years. Nella was a seamstress by trade and was employed by BAMCO, Inc. for many years before her retirement. Her love of life was cooking for her children and family. She enjoyed making homemade pasta and enjoyed gardening, where she would pick fresh vegetables. She enjoyed being around her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her devoted children, Maria Tiberi of Bridgeport, Sebastiana Montoni and her husband Salvatore of Huntington, Antonio Savo, Chief Master Sergeant USAF (ret) and his wife Laura of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Luigina (Gina) Martin and her husband Michael, of Huntington; eight beautiful and loving grandchildren, Roberto Tiberi and his wife Cindy, Gloria Tiberi, Marco Montoni and his wife Idamys, Angela Desjardins and her husband Michael, Stefania Abila and her husband Anthony, Davide Montoni, Kevin Savo, and Sean Martin, nine beautiful and amazing great-grandchildren, Samantha, Sean, Isabella, Gianna, Antonio, Patrick, Ailana, Christian, and Enzo. She is also survived by her brothers, Pasquale and his wife Gelsomina Palmieri and Lino and his wife Genoveffa Palmieri, all of New York as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Rizziero, she was also predeceased by her three children in heaven, her son-in-law, Pasquale Tiberi, her in-laws, Antonio and Mariangela Tiberi Savo, her sisters, Olinda and her husband Quido Panella, and Nicolina and her husband Sebastiano Vona. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 1 – 5 pm.at the funeral home.
