Obituary of James M. Sciortino

James M. Sciortino, age 81, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Patricia Cesero Sciortino, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at CT Hospice, Branford surrounded by his family. Born in Bridgeport on June 3, 1935, he was a son of the late Dr. Michael V. and Rosalie E. Fekete Sciortino. A veteran of the U.S. Army, James obtained his Bachelor's Degree from the New York University after also attending Duke, UConn, Tennessee, University of Bridgeport and Pace. Mr. Sciortino took on many roles early in his career having taught school at Fannie A. Smith School in Bridgeport, working for Massengill Pharmaceuticals, Winthrop Labs, National Chem Search, acting as a real estate broker and even his love for flying led to his duties as a private pilot. Before his retirement he was the owner and operator of Ten Ten Lube Center in Milford. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In addition to his beloved wife of 58 years, Patsy, survivors include his three sons, James Sciortino of Trumbull, Dean Sciortino and Maryellen Walsh of Newtown and Michael Sciortino of Trumbull, his cherished granddaughter, Giavanna, a sister, Rosalie V. Donahue and her husband Dennis of Isle of Palms, SC, his brother Carl Sciortino and his wife Marge of MA, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to all the doctors, nurses and caregivers at St. Vincent's, Yale and CT Hospice, for their care and compassion. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Thursday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
