Obituary of Robert T. Solaz

Robert Solaz, Sr., of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Bridgeport Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Effie Marie Siskey Solaz. Born in Bridgeport on August 3, 1926 he was a son of the late Thomas and Emma Stampsaiter Solaz and spent most of his life in Trumbull. A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, he had served honorably during World War II. He was employed by A.D. Walker of Norwalk as a Sheet Metal Superintendent for many years, and was a member of the Trumbull VFW & Italian Community Club. He was a dedicated family man and an avid fan of the New England Patriots. Bob valued his family time. Gatherings at his home playing pinochle, bocce ball & horseshoes made him the happiest. Aside from playing the piano and accordion, he enjoyed completing home projects. He gave so much of himself to his church, family and friends and all who have known him will cherish those memories. He was predeceased by his daughter, Dena Solaz. In addition to his beloved wife of 66 years, Effie, he is survived by two sons, Robert Solaz, Jr. and Rodney Solaz and his wife Eileen, two grandsons, Trevor Solaz and Matthew Helman, a brother, Richard Solaz as well as two nephews and their families. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. directly in Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 5995 Main St., Trumbull. Interment with full military honors will follow in Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
