An active member at Good Shepherd Church, Monroe, she volunteered in the soup kitchen and even worked for seven years to create stained glass windows in the church. After her retirement from Handy-Harmon, Fairfield Martha enjoyed going to the casino and loved to play BINGO. Her greatest enjoyment was visiting with her grandchildren and traveling with Charlie to the Panama Canal, Alaska & Hawaii. Survivors include her beloved daughters; Ellen Sutton of Trumbull, Betty Hoffman of Woodbury, two cherished granddaughters, Laura Sutton and her husband Charbel El-Beyrouty of Seattle; Katherine Sutton of Arlington, VA; her sister-in-law Eleanor Gavlik of Stratford, as well as several nieces and nephews.
