Obituary of Josephine Vitrella

Josephine Pirrello Vitrella, age 76, of Bridgeport, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, October 4, 2004 at St. Vincent Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport, on October 25, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Cosimo and Mary Locascio Pirrello, and was a lifelong Bridgeport resident. Mrs. Vitrella formerly served as a school crossing guard for the City of Bridgeport at Madison School. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother who was loved very much by her family.

Three weeks ago, she was pre-deceased by her devoted husband of 57 years, Joseph Vitrella and over a year ago by her daughter, Angela Gloria Christensen.

Survivors include two sons, Vincent Joseph Vitrella of Tamarac, Florida and Joseph A. Vitrella of Trumbull, two daughters, Bernadette Dioguardi and her husband Ralph of Trumbull and Lisa DAmore and her husband Alfred of Shelton, a brother, Joseph Pirrello and his wife, Amelia of Bridgeport, two sisters, Ann Vitrella and her husband, Guido of Shelton and Mary Whelan and her husband, Richard of Greenwich, a son in law, John Christensen Sr. of Atlanta, GA., 17 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will take place on Friday October 8, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Margaret Shrine Chapel, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
